Today I want to share a couple of case studies that illustrate how essential oils can help animals let-go of emotional trauma or blockages. This is an area I work with frequently, as often even 'physical' problems can be traced back to one traumatic incident. Trauma causes the 'electric circuits' of the body to turn off momentarily, this can cause a blockage in the flow of energy which later leads to disease.
A woman once called me seeking essential oils for her dog. In the course of the initial conversation the woman said,
"Really, I think it is me that needs the oils as much as her."
Tigs (as she is known) is a 5 year old spayed female collie cross. For the first one and a half years of her life she lived as the only dog of a childless couple. Then they moved abroad leaving Tigs behind. Firstly Tigs was left with the woman who moved into their house, a friend of the couple who did not have much dog experience. A month or so after her 'parents' left Tigs was attacked by another dog while out walking and had to have several stitches in her leg.
Poor Imelena, a fifteen year old quarter horse/paint mare, had suffered from itchy skin since she was three years old. Every summer as the insects started biting she rubbed herself raw and pulled out all her mane and tail. The management solution had been to electrify her pen and stable so she couldn’t rub, which increased her stress levels, it also meant she could never be turned out with the herd, so she spent her days in a small pen.
