Animal PsychAromatica (APA) is a truly holistic approach to animal wellness. APA Level 1 is an in-depth course for animal lovers and health practitioners (veterinarians, physiotherapists, massage therapists, etc) who would like to use essential oils as part of their healing regimen; also qualified aromatherapists who would like to expand their knowledge base. Certificate in Animal PsychAromatica.

Course aims

APA 1 teaches you how to use essential oils and 5 element theory for the health and well-being of your own animals or animals in your care. It also teaches how stress effects animal health and behaviour, and how you can reduce stress in your animal’s environment.

At the end of the course you will be able to confidently choose appropriate essential oils for common health and behaviour problems, understand the phsyiological and psychological requirements of horses, dogs and cats and how to fulfill them in a domestic environment.

Study includes

• 50 essential oils, 10 herbal oils and 15 hydrolats
• How to use 5 Element theory to choose essential oils and recognise patterns of disease
• Physiology of stress and the effect of stress on the body and mind
• Species specific management and reduction of stress
• An introduction to animal behaviour

Study hours

The course consists of 5 learning segments plus case studies, approximately 130 study hours in total.

Each segment requires you to read the course material, put the information you have learned into practise with an animal and write a short report on what you have learned. Each segment is to be completed within one month.

You will be assigned a personal tutor on enrolment, whom you can contact at any time via email, or telephone by appointment. The tutor will advise, encourage and support you throughout.

Certification

To receive a certificate of completion or if you want to want to continue on to Level 2 and gain a certificate in Animal PsychAromatica, you must also read the book 'Wild Health' by Cindy Engel, write a 2,000 word essay on an essential oil of your choice, and complete four case studies.

The course is to be completed within 1 year from commencement of study.

Pre-requisites

Some knowledge of animals and a desire to learn how to support their health with natural solutions. You must read English well enough to understand the course notes and complete your written assignments. (Assignments can also be written in Hebrew, French and Greek). In most cases the minimum age is 18, anyone under 18 and over 16 will be considered on a case by case basis.

Additional costs

You need a selection of essential oils, hydrolats and vegetable oils in order to complete this course. If you do not have any essential oils, you can buy a starter kit from Essential Animals. Individual essential oils are also available on request. You will also be sent a list of reputable suppliers in your own country on enrolment.
