Project Description

The safest and most effective way to use essential oils with animals is to facilitate an animal’s innate ability to self-medicate. This is known scientifically as Applied Zoopharmacognosy. Each animal follows the same basic responses on being offered an essential oil to smell: olfactory assimilation (smelling it intensely); oral assimilation (licking diluted oil); or rejection of the oil (walking away). However, you must always consider the unique character of the individual when interpreting the response. This video shows how subtle the responses can be.
